Ketones are chemicals your liver makes. You produce them when you don't have enough insulin in your body to turn sugar (or glucose) into energy.
If your cells don't get enough glucose, your body burns fat for energy instead. This produces a substance called ketones, which can show up in your blood and urine.
TEST
Put the strip from your test into the sample (or you can hold the test strip under your urine stream).
Shake the strip gently.
The strip will change color; the directions will tell you how long that takes.
Check the strip color against the chart that came with your test kit. This will show you the ketone level.
The lesson was slow and uninteresting as it was simply a repeat of what was already said. We made slides on how to test for disorders and diseases through the testing of urine, and on how to solve them.
